Power metal doesn't get much better than BC on State Of Control. 'Out Of Time' is a classic, and 'Stage Of Intensity' is epic.

played in a band that opened for these fellows during this tour, they opened thier set with 'stage of intensity' which is 'as bold a song' ever written. note though that there are 2 versions of this cd. I don't know which one is more rare ? one with the ccm flavored ,elephante co-writtten 'your love gives' the other is without that song but has songs 'two thousand years' and 'escape in the night' included. If you are a fan checkout the cd they did a few years later called 'rattle your cage'

This is one of the finest Christian metal albums of all times. While they are primarily hard metal, they add in a couple ballads that really show off this bands range. There are two versions of the CD, one which has 'Your Love Gives' and was designed for Christian book store release. I have heard that this is somewhat harder to find. The other substitutes 'Escape in the Night' for 'Your Love Gives' and was released to secular music stores. BOth CD types include 'Two Thousand Years', a bonus trac

I really freaked when I picked this tape up at Family Bookstore in Wheatridge Mall in Denver in '89. 'Stage of Intensity' was my hook for sharing the good news with the moshers and punkers in Denver. 'Love at Full Volume' is a good Metal Love Song. '2000 Years' is a good basic gospel presentation of Jesus and his life. Accessible Truth with Roaring Riffs and Grinding Rhythm. This 1 is a keeper.

I remember how excited I was when I first saw the video for 'Cryin' Over You' on MTV's 'Headbanger's Ball'. I was like 'YES! They MADE IT!' I still think 'Atomic Arena' is their best album, but this is a close second...I also remember how it took five years of searching for a CD copy of this one after my car stereo ate my cassette!

This is NOT the Barren Cross of 'Rock for the King' which is a shame. I was almost as disappointed listening to this as I was when I got 'Rattle Your Cage.' While the guitarwork is fantastic, Mike Lee's vocals aren't that good. (He hit high notes only a handful of times -- and, even then during the fade-out at the nd of the song! Ugh!) Nothing special here; too bad.

Gotta love Barren Cross. You just can't help it. Mike Lee kills as usual. A couple of commercial songs thrown into the mix this time, but still a great heavy metal platter. Get it!Favorite tracks: Stage of Intensity, 2,000 Years.

Just wondering if anyone knows what happened to Barren Cross' web site, Barrencross.com ... I just tried to visit it to find out some info on the reissued CDs and it appears to have been taken down. Anyone know if it's been moved or will be back up soon?

I interviewed Mike Lee(who now goes by the name Drive)as well as his new band. He said the reissues would probably definetly happen. As to when no word. If you guys like 80's metal www.ReignRadio.com we specialize in 80's. We play some new too, but mainly 80's PEACE

It looks like the BC reissues are now available, according to Amazon.com. No info on their site about whether or not they have any bonus material. I'd be curious if anyone knows whether the reissue of State of Control has the song 'Your Love Gives' or 'Escape In The Night' , or possibly both? If it's both then I have to get the reissue 'cos I only have the version with 'Escape.'

Arrgh... I just checked a few other music store sites, Barnes & Noble sez the reissue has 'Your Love Gives' and the Tower Records site lists 'Escape In The Night'. If anybody has picked up the reissue and can tell me which track is actually on it, PLEASE post the info so I know whether to order the CD or not?? Thanks in advance...

Update to my two previous posts about the bonus tracks on this album and the new reissues... according to the web site for Rykodisc, the label that released the new reissues, the bonus track is 'Escape In The Night,' not 'Your Love Gives.' Oh well. Would've been nice if they'd included both on the new one, but I guess it's Ebay for me if I ever want to hear 'Your Love Gives.'

This is my favorite Barren Cross cd. Songs like 'Out of Time', 'Cryin' Over You' & 'State of Control' make this a CLASSIC!! I have both the Enigma & Benson versions of this cd & love 'Escape in the Night' & Your Love Gives'. Pick this up if you don't have it!

Their strongest release. Although more commercial than earlier releases, it still is heavy enough to be a BC masterpiece.

Excellent album, not as great as Atomic Arena but still an excellent disc. My favs are the 3 first songs (State of Control, Out Of Time and Criyin' Over You (excellent rock balland)) and The Stage of Intensity.

Love this release! Not many weak tracks on this record, which makes for a great listen. A little more commercial than Atomic Arena, but still keeps the edge they were known for. This is an essential album!

This is such a great album... my introduction to the band as I saw them play during their tour for this record.... I'll put it up against MANY of the more popular / secular releases of the time.
