this is a reissue of the original star song disc that fetures live tracks from the " hotter than hell " cd
From: James   (IP unknown) Date: July 29, 2001 at 9:06
Not to mention , it is re-mixed by Ronnie Montrose with changes guitar stuff and vocal effects. The original is better in my opinion.

The original rocks. I thought the reissue could've done without the live tracks.

Baren Cross was one the very first Christian metal bands that I started listening to after GOD delivered me out of the occult anf its music. Groups like these ministered to me greatly of the love GOD had for me and that HE had a plan for my life to show and share with others, and even teens of today! PRAISE GOD for men in Christian metal groups that love and serve God daily. I pray for them in their testamony for today's youth.

The production is rough, but the songs have an honest feel to them. I still put this up as the most authentic Christian Metal album ever. (I'm talking about the original of course)

I have a copy of the original pressing on cassette, but I'd settle for either version on CD! It's so hard to find nowadays at a decent price. Someone really needs to start re-issuing this stuff!

A classic! Late '80's Hard Rock all the way! Definitely, Barren Cross' best work in my book. Ray Parris and Steve Whitaker show they really know their instruments. Mike Lee's voice is in fine, operatic form. Too bad BC went in another direction with "Atomic Arena", &c. This CD was my first exposure to BC -- only making me want more. Unfortunately, BC went heavy-heavy after "Rock for the King." Gone was classic hard rock. Too bad.

This a great album. "Rock For The King" rocks!

This album is good, but the original on Star Song is much better.
From: Ty   (IP unknown) Date: August 3, 2002 at 13:56
There was a time when "Atomic Arena" was my favorite BC album, but I've had a change of opinion over the years... "Rock For The King!" was the first Barren Cross album I ever heard, and I love the bold, evangelistic message. "He Loves You," and "Just A Touch" are amazing! Great, hard-rockin' tunes, and I even enjoyed the "live" tracks. Good stuff! 9/10

Barren Cross is one of my all-time favorite bands, and this album started it all. Blazing guitars and Mike Lee's truly awesome signature vocals. Fantastic band!!!

This was a total re-recording of their original Star Song release. This one is much more polished.... too bad they re-recorded it - Styper made the same mistake with The Yellow and Black Attack (yes there are 2 different recordings of that album).

I have the original Rock For The King from Star Song on tape and I find myself listening to it more than this re-release. It has a much rawer quality to it. This was an awsome project by an awsome band with great music. "Better than pot Jesus rocks"

Barren cross rocks they sound alot like iron maiden only the lift up the name of jesus jesus rocks praise God
From: Lawiki   (IP unknown) Date: July 4, 2004 at 4:32
Its just the best. the lyrics are just superb. the 1st time i heard them i thought its another iron maiden album. However Jesus is exalted through them.

I haven't heard the reissue (I have the original), but I'll still comment. RFTK is outstanding. It has more raw energy and simplicity than later releases. I've been a BC fan ever since this came out.

Hey you guys, get this! I'm 49 years old and still tell people about the music of Barren Cross. Bands like them were instrumental in solidifying my walk with the Lord Jesus. I'm a staff musician at my Church where I play the Bass and Guitar. I'm greatful that our God loves all types of music and musicians. However, if you ask me, I think He's a Headbanger from way back! God bless you guys, keep bangin' for Jesus!

Love this one. I once got fired for playing "Rock For The King" on an MOR station.

I don't know why album execs think they can remix an album and then sell more copies (although I did buy the crappy remix on CD - so I guess that's why they think they can do it). The original was fresh, bold, and kickin. The blue and white outfits make my ten year old daughter laugh, but in 1986 they were cool (at least they weren't wearing Motocross gear like early Gardian). Some will attack me for saying this - Ray Paris is not the most jaw dropping guitarist in the metal scene, but he laid d

Decent album with good tracks but their follow up "Atomic Arena" is far better..."Give Your Life" & "Just A Touch" are my personal favourites..."Dying Day","Believe","Going Nowhere" & "Rock For The King" are acceptable HM songs too but just that...with all my respect to the comments above but this is far from being a essential IMHO.80/100

I find it puzzling that the late Ronnie Montrose gets virtually no recognition for this great album. Heck, Wikipedia doesn't even acknowledge this work on his page. What gives?
