If you are a metal fan (christian or non) this cd is worth procurring. The 'maiden' similarities are a given but they offer much more than that band could ever give...'the truth the life the way' songs like 'living dead' and the song that the video for was on headbangers ball alot 'imaginary music' offer a different view and / or perspective on important issues. But 'killers of the unborn' states the most bold stance of all.. calling abortion what it really is... murder. yet the blood of Christ

Truly a great album. But I like all of BC's stuff. 'Terrorist Child' is more timely than ever if you understand how al-QUaeda and their type, school their kids for jihad. 'Imaginary Music' is a modern Metal classic. I love the Laugh that intros 'Cultic Regimes', which is a call to discipleship and evangelism and standing on the TRUTH of the gospel. DEF-initely ROCKS!

The last track, Living Dead, is a metal masterpiece. Sell your pets if you have to... but get this record!!!

Not just one of the best Christian metal albums ever, but one of the best METAL albums, period! I love all their stuff, but this one will never be equalled!

This is their best album. Every song rocks and great lyrics to the songs.

One of the albums that open the road to the christian rock music, incredible job guys!

What more can I add to these above comments? I feel the same way. This may be the best Christian metal album EVER. Not sure about that, but it definitely is that good. By far, the best BC record.

Not a bad album at all. Very heavy music and great topics to approach. The lyrics could have used some tweaking in my opinion, but oh well. Very great artwork layout as well. Definitely worth owning, but it could cost you an arm and a leg just to get a used copy. Some highlight songs (in my opinion): IMAGINARY MUSIC, KILLERS OF THE UNBORN, IN THE EYE OF THE FIRE, HEAVEN OR NOTHING. Also worth mentioning is a freaky little laugh that Mike (?!) gives before CULTIC REGIMES.

Great music, tough lyrics. They address a lot of issues on this album. Imaginary Music is one of the best songs on the album and had a professional video done for it, too.

Barren Cross decides here to abandon the Heavy Metal of 'Rock for the King' for heavyhanded, boring schlock. Yes, the lyrics are provocative & intelligent. But, Mike Lee yells most of them rather than singing them & his range is noticeably different: High notes are a rarity. Too bad. I loved RFTK, playing it over and over ... then, I hear this. What a shame!

Good cd. Damn good. I bought it when it came out. I still listen to it. Nice and heavy. And not too christian.
From: drewman202   (IP unknown) Date: March 10, 2003 at 6:51
Barren Cross at their absolute best! Every song rules, even the ballad Heaven or Nothing. More killer axework and Mike Lee's incredible pipes. Jim LaVerde has a cool little base run in the intro of In The Eye Of The Fire. Great drum sound too. It just rocks! Favorite tracks: Imaginary Music, Cultic Regimes, Living Dead.

Hey, Greatdane, read John 3:16 and underline that word believes. It means OBEY in the original greek. Noone can ever be too christian. Especially when this band gave me a reason to really enjoy Christian Metal. The 80's gave us a lot of trash and this band delivered JESUS CHRIST in full force. Yeah, get this disc, if ya' can!!!

Good news y'all... according to Amazon.com, Barren Cross' ATOMIC ARENA, STATE OF CONTROL and HOTTER THAN HELL CDs will be reissued on Jan. 13th, 2004. Don't know if there will be any bonus tracks or anything cool like that but let's all buy lots of copies so they'll reissue ROCK FOR THE KING as well.

This BC album definitely Rocks!!! Atomic Arena came out in 1988, during the era where the Stryper'glam boys' were getting much of the puplicity for their bumble bee outfit image. But any loyal Christian Metal fan like me, search out other bands and found this Atomic 'Classic'! They sound similar to Iron Maiden. Just all-a-round one kick ass album! I rate it a 9.5 out of 10. It was so good that Enigma records issued the first printing. Enigma mainly produces secular music like Ratt, etc......

a very good album with very good songs like Imaginary Music, Terrorist Child, Close to the Edge, Dead Lock and King of Kings. The rock ballad Heaven or Nothing is excellent.
From: Chris   (IP unknown) Date: May 4, 2004 at 2:18
Man, this CD rocks! Normally, I'm more into ultra-fast Christian thrash metal (Vengeance Rising, Tourniquet, etc.), but this album is one excellent exception!
From: Jay   (IP unknown) Date: July 29, 2004 at 10:59
The song King of Kings should be Chrisian Metal's premiere anthem. This album is truly a masterpiece!
From: GroovyLime   (IP unknown) Date: September 3, 2004 at 20:43
I love this album. Much better production than RFTK and not as commercial as SOC. A Barren Cross classic.

What an excellent 80s Metal Album! This album is so (excuse my French) Fuck'n Kick Ass(Lord I apologize) that it should be owned by every Christian Metal Fan, King of Kings & Imaginary Music are the best two songs on this CD. It's so good that it had to be reissued in the early 2000s year. I think these guys were better than Stryper in my opinion.

This is such a great record! Listening to the vinyl format with headphones is the way to go. Great hard rock music with subjects many other bands don't dare to tackle. I give these guys a lot of credit for that. On top of that, you get top-notch musicianship found from a short list of other bands. Grab this on any format you can find it! Awesome sounding band!
