Excellent music and background vocals on this record. Simplistic lyrics, but the music and bgv's make up for it. Their sound is similar to Dokken. It's 80's hair band metal for sure. kevensyle@netscape.net

A VERY underrated album. This album gets lost in the Jamie Rowe-era of Guardian and that's a shame. Not because Rowe-era Guardian is bad (quite the contrary - I love Jamie's vocals!), but because this is such a great record. And you must get the CD that has the two bonus tracks. These two songs are probably my favorites, believe it or not! But there's tons to like here. 'Rooooooooock Innn Victoryyyy!!! Noooooo way yooooouuuuuu can lose!' Ahhh...this is a great CD.

For me (...and I'm only speaking for myself), a band's first album is, usually, their best; and Guardian's 'First Watch' is no exception! This album had a hard edge to it that I really like, and I miss Paul Cawley's vocals which, in my opinion, had a Don Dokken vibe to them. Another 10/10 for me. Not a disappointing track to be found!

I am glad for the Heaven's Metal web page. I hope you could improve it for the interaction point of young people around the World.

I have to agree with Tom's review above. This CD is a forgotten jem. I saw Guardian on their 'Fire and Love' tour with Jamie Rowe singing many of these classics. He sounded great. It's a shame they totally forgot about this album after that tour.

Awesome album. I like Jamie's vocals better, but Paul is still excellent. This is when Guardian were metal.

Brilliant. Maybe 9.5 compared to the next one's 10, but still utterly essential.
