CD: Joshua - Surrender
From: Tim   (---.lnse1.woo.bigpond.net.au) Date: January 27, 2010 at 4:07
Great melodic hard rock album- and one of the only places you can hear Jeff Fenholt singing rock, so it has good historical value. Uplifting lyrics, virtuoso guitars, catchy melodies, huge vocals- all around classy eighties hard rock production!
CD: Messiah Prophet - Master of the Metal
From: Lori Pellman   (---.) Date: January 20, 2010 at 12:25

CD: Saint - Time's End
From: Goodbye Saint   (---.hlrn.qwest.net) Date: January 17, 2010 at 0:22
Too bad they will never recapture Too Late for Living and Time's End, especially the Too Late.......album because the rest of the recordings after sounds alike with boring painful vocals. Totally disappointed! I think it's time to cheer-on PRIMAL FEAR and CAGE!
CD: Broken Silence - Discerning the Times
From: H   (---.hlrn.qwest.net) Date: January 16, 2010 at 23:05
Is there a chance "Broken Silence" will reissue Discerning the Times? I heard it's an awesome cd, but I will not buy it for the crazy prices that are offered online, especially when it comes to "selling" Jesus which we all thought it was free. Thanks, a non-beliver.

It is pivotal to alter your physician about any allergies you may have and also your medical history, before getting your Lipitor prescription. The drug Lipitor also has a bioequivalent generic which is identical to the brand in strength as well as safety and is sold at a slightly lower cost.

CD: Angelica - Walkin' In Faith
From: Startyger   (---.mycingular.net) Date: December 2, 2009 at 6:24
Yep, by far thief best album. They have better SONGS on other albums, but this is thier best album! I wish this staff would have had a chance to put out again. Each album sounds like a first release with Dennis Cameron as the binding factor. This was much more consistent, even with the higher vocals... Great buy, this still one of my favorites! I love all kinds of music. This album is just nice.
CD: Rachel Rachel - You Oughta Know By Now
From: Startyger   (---.mycingular.net) Date: December 2, 2009 at 6:13
I agree! Great Album, though, every song didn't need an intro. I loved 'You Comfort Me' for jumping right in there. This was more agressive! Sometimes a bit 'overproduced'.... 'In Your Arms', is just great! 'Dust to Diamonds' wow! 'You Ought To Know', that's a great song should have heard it in a car commercial by now! 'Time', that was a great ballad. I saw a promo poster of them in denim.... That would have been a better cover, and sold this Labor of thiers. Cover: bad. Again it looks like they
CD: Rachel Rachel - Way To My Heart
From: Startyger   (---.mycingular.net) Date: December 2, 2009 at 5:55
Yep, I'm still a Fan too! Bought my CD copies on Amazon. Wish the were still together, too. I agree, a little more Rock n less balladeering lol might have saved them from comparisons with non rock groups. Or they could have chosen a more rocky ballad style (i.e. Resurrestion Band's 'Paint a picture' or 'Richest One'; Stryper's 'Lady'; Red Sea's 'Tears of Joy') I also think they should have covered White Heart's 'Heroes'! They get mixed in my playlists, regularly!

CD: Angelica - Angelica
From: ingodwetrust   (---.unknown.charter.com) Date: November 2, 2009 at 22:16
Reply to Rexreed, and what are you doing with your music career that helps you to reach people in need of Christ? Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that it's not good, because it's not about the music, as much as it is about the message. If stand for man you'll fall for anything, if you kneel before god you stand for everything.

From: John M.   (---.ipt.aol.com) Date: September 27, 2009 at 17:33
Wow, I knew these guys back when we were attending the same church. I found the bands name on several websites. Heavy metal sites mostly. I loved them. Even Opened for them at one of their concerts at the same church when they did them for free. Some of you might remember that or were there.
CD: Petra - Rock Block
From: Rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 26, 2009 at 16:43
One of the Many Star Song Reissues that embarrassed the band. That company really does exploit the work of their artist by releasing greatest hits albums over and over. There is a long remix of some of their more popular tunes from the Star Song era that is worth listening to but it's really more of a medley and often the songs do not transition from each other very well.
CD: Petra - Double Take
From: Rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 26, 2009 at 16:39
Retread of older Petra songs. The only problem is NONE of the reinvented versions is better than the original. It's like a Bizarro Petra record with the same lyrics as before, but with really bad music. Production is top notch, but the new melodies lack. Only purchase this album if you are collecting all Petra records. If you are listening to Petra for the first time then please choose All Fired Up, Beyond Belief,J&K or anything but Double Take.
CD: Allies - Long Way From Paradise
From: Lisa   (---.hsd1.ut.comcast.net) Date: September 26, 2009 at 1:06
twenty years later, and I still have this cd. I remember seeing them in concert. good times.
CD: Petra - Jekyll and Hyde
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 4:35
The best Petra album in a decade! It lacks any real guitar solos though and there is no more keyboard. Woulda Shoulda sounds like a Newsboys song, other than that this album id fantastic.
CD: Petra - Wake Up Call
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 4:32
WHy did Petra leave the Elefants? This album is weak, it sounds like before 'This Means War.' Thankfully they never used Brown Bannster again, although 'Just reach out.' is a gem.
CD: Mortification - Scrolls of the Megilloth
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 4:29
Can't stand this band, yet I bough the albums just to support a death metal christian band. I really dont hear the music in this.
CD: Magdallan - Big Bang
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 4:27
When Queen overproduces it is classic, When Ken does it they seem to hate it! I liked this album even though he really did rip a couple things off of his last solo album. Seriously though, Ken was better as a solo artist than when he teamed up with Lanny. BTW this is rock. A couple ballads are good as any for the day. Wounded Herat and House of Dreams are soda pop sweet but good songs. Really catchy guitar solos on this album.
CD: The Kry - I'll Find You There
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 4:21
They try and sound like Bryan Adams- and sorta succeed. Consider yourself warned.
CD: Ken Tamplin And Friends - Wake The Nations
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 4:20
ehhhh- not his best. tamplin is a prodcution BEAST! so this sounds good, but the songwriting isn't as catchy as past efforts. Be sure and check out he music video with Jeff Scott Soto!
CD: Angelica - Time is All it Takes
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 4:17
Thankfully they never recorded another album. Dennis can stop claiming to be the best christian guitarist now.
CD: Angelica - Rock, Stock, and Barrel
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 4:15
Cover me and Rhyme and reason are the best songs Angelica ever recorded. Actually they are the only good songs they ever recorded.
CD: Angelica - Walkin' In Faith
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 4:14
More shallow lyrics and elementary melodies from Dennis Cameron. The instumental is the best part of the album and that is not saying much. Avoid this album if you are unfamiliar with Angelica. Pick up Rock Stock. It is the best and then get the earlier work of you like it.
CD: Angelica - Angelica
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 4:12
Ken Tamplin helped produce this pile of lameness. There should have never been another album after this but there was, and the second one stank too. But Dennis Cameron kept on going and finally made a good record with Rock stock....and the band name is a rip off too.
CD: Fear Not - Fear Not
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 4:10
There were too many bands like this in the 90's- average at best. There is a reason they made only one album, they are not good! Pakaderm had some nice porduction but the songs are just not good. Ok Give it up is OK but the rest are just, bland. Also the album cover gets an f-. Total failure. Whats with the girly colors and hippy font?
CD: Crystavox - The Bottom Line
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 4:07
Decent production but the songwriting is just plain,,, well plain! 15 years later and I can't get through this album.
CD: Tourniquet - Where Moth and Rust Destroy
From: Rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 4:04
One of the best Metal albums EVER. Fantastic arrangements, top notch recording. You will be listening to Restoring Over and over. Guest guitarist Marty Friedam from Megadeth on a couple tracks. This record is perfection. Your mom will not understand...
CD: Tourniquet - Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 3:59
This is better than PS. Nearly every track is a masterpiece. Phantom limb is one of the best metal songs period. The lyrics are deep as per usual tourniquet and this is the last album to feature Guy Ritter on vocals. Ted is the founding member and so tha band continues to record!
CD: Tourniquet - Psycho Surgery
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 3:57
The songs are better written and played than on the debut album. Well, except for the piece of 90's kitch known as Spineless. They tried to mix a little hip hop and it does not work. Funny thing, the non hip hop parts are pretty good. A mini masterpiece addressing societies treatment of the retarted in 'Broken Chromosomes.' This is a good record and worth purchasing for the artwork alone! Crisp crunchy guitars, a Tourniquet staple for many albums and blistering vocals.
CD: Tourniquet - Stop the Bleeding
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 3:52
A good freshemt effort. This band get a lot better so if you like the album you will really love the bands later efforts. Ark of Suffering and You get what You Pray for are instant hits. The rest will grow on you, with a couple lousy songs that you will always skip!@
CD: Whitecross - Nineteen Eighty Seven
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 3:49
Yay rex is back and the re recorded songs NEVERSOUNDED BETTER! Too bad nothing is original here and scott's voice will never sound as good as ten years earlier but this album is a must have. The recording quality is top notch and you will absolutely love every note Rex plays!
CD: Whitecross - Unveiled
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 3:47
Ok christian rock album, there are a couple decent songs (Goobye...) but a lousy Whitecross album. Probably because Rex Carrol is nowhere to be found.
CD: Whitecross - High Gear
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 3:45
This is a really good rock album. It is definitely better than the last. Dance in Heaven has silly lyrics but man is it a fun rocker. Rex and his guitar riffs return to awesome on this record but he never quite goes metal. 'In America' might as well be 'In the Kindom' with different lyrics. Other than that very creative. Scott sounds fantastic, and this was probably the last real Whitecross album before they parted ways. Yes, they got back together but the magic had passed.
CD: Whitecross - In the Kingdom
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 3:41
WC teamed up with Dez Dickerson and softened up a lot, perhaps too much with this album. Too many bland ballads and nothing like fans grew to expect. Although a before mentioned ballad In the Kingdom is a monster ballad/anthem. You have to hear it and imagine what it was like to hear live in the early 90's Dez would continue to influence their music but after this album the sound went a little rockier. This is definitely not a metal album.
CD: Whitecross - Hammer and Nail
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 3:37
Simple songs, poor production quality yet still a good album. It is no secret that Rex Carrol and his absolutely ridiculous riffs make this band. Take it to the Limit might be the best rocker on the album. Too bad the bass and drums sound like bunk, but the production quality would improve with each subsequent album. This is rock metal, no sugar sweet ballads here.
CD: Allies - Man With a Mission
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 3:32
Not quite as good as the previous two entries-perhaps the group was losing a little creative harmony. Still, a good album with highlights being I'm Crying, in which Bob sang his heart out. It's a song written about the loss of his father. Heaven has a strong gospel feel to it. As for rockers the heaviest is Feather, but there are some pop gems here like In my Life and Deepest. Carried Away is a 50's rocker about Christian scandals of the day. A couple ballads included could easily be Chicago!
CD: Allies - The River
From: rexreed   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 3:26
This album went a little darker than the last, but only in the chords and lyrics. They added some horns and cut back a little on the synth. There are a couple masterpieces on this album including the title track as well the the 'Requiem for the Living' that actually leads into the title track. High quality production and slick , catchy melodies in this somewhat rare gem. There is one silly song here- 'The Island Song' tries hard to be a credible caribbean tune but ends up sounding childish....
CD: Allies - Long Way From Paradise
From:   (---.lightspeed.hstntx.sbcglobal.net) Date: September 25, 2009 at 3:20
The version of Crying in the Chapel is so good it is hard to listen to The King's. Yes, it's that good. Pretty much every song is memorable. There are multiple styles, most of which were popular in the 80's. Walk With me Silent is the exception- heavy synth, no drums, but a haunting melody that will have you whistling all day at work. The guys nailed it on Long way From Paradise- You simply must crank up the volume on this whole album.

One of my biggest influences as a kid. I started playing guitar when I was 12 and my first teacher was Tom Brock. I went to church with them and saw Harvey and Tom many times as Warrior. Harvey played drums then and Tom played an acoustic running through distortion. They did some Elvis remakes with christian lyrics that were cool. Then they added Curt on bass and Tony on drums. Brings back good memories.

From: Street Ready   (---.proxy.aol.com) Date: August 4, 2009 at 18:18
Tad and I are about to get together and make some damn racket! I met with him and we are teaming up on guitars and going to strip paint from the walls. The next version of this band will absolutely SMOKE guaranteed. I played lead guitar for Street Ready for a decade and change and we always had blowin' material. The two of us should come up with some slammin' stuff so hang on people!
CD: Petra - On Fire!
From: ThomasW   (---.socal.res.rr.com) Date: July 25, 2009 at 3:35
Way back in 1989 I got to see Petra live in concert during the 'On Fire' world tour. I had been a Petra fan and album collector ever since 'Not Of This World'. But had never seen them perform live. The concert was in Sacramento, CA at the Arco Arena (indoor basketball arena) and I have to say, it was by far the loudest Christian rock concert I had ever been to!!! But, I totally loved it. Totally confirmed my love and devotion to Petra, the band, and the song playlist for that night totally ROCKE

CD: Stryper - In God We Trust
From: blacklabel   (---.nga.mil) Date: July 16, 2009 at 20:59
This was the most dissapointing album they made. They spent WAY too much time over polishing this. I think The Reign,Writings on the Wall, and In God We Trust are it. This was just a bad time for them. Horrible record. But I supported them anyways. I saw them on this tour, with White Lion, White Lion sucked, but Stryper was still ok.

We knew the brothers when they were starting out and were then 'The Russians' [ the earlier 1980's ] . While in Georgia they visited 'THE LIGHT HOUSE' ,our 'Youth Coffee House' where we ministered to the youth of our community . They are precious people and I continued to pray for them though the years. They have a powerful message. I kept in touch for a while with Peter's wife Lilly. She has such a lovely spirit. I continue to wish them all the best.

CD: Bride - Fist Full of Bees
From: Bridefan   (---.) Date: June 12, 2009 at 8:44
So, if you don't force yourself to listen to this over and over again until you start to like it, you are not a true fan? That's ridiculous! Art? This was Bride trying to stay relevant by following a trend that thankfully died quickly. Take a listen to the C-stone live CD where Dale admits that doing the rap thing was easier than actually singing. I agree with Scott, this album is crap. They released far better things before it and after it.

CD: The Brave - Battle Cries
From: David   (---.columbus.res.rr.com) Date: June 9, 2009 at 23:35
Absolutely loved this album back when it came out and it still holds up, despite an obvious 80s feel to the production. But the tunes and performances win out. These guys should have been up there with Bride and Guardian as leaders of Christian metal. Just didn't quite work out that way.

To be fair, each of the band members had a hand in the way their relationships are now, and it's not unlike every other band in existence. To say, as I did previously, that the bass player torpedoed his relationship with the others is unfair. If I could remove it, I would.

From: Yo...   (---.eug.clearwire-dns.net) Date: May 31, 2009 at 2:57
Uh....Petra was not the first to do 'God Gave Rock and Roll to You'. Argent was. Just add that song to the list of songs ripped off from other bands. 'Seen and Not Heard's' riff is note-for-note KISS's 'Heaven's on Fire'. Nice to know Hartman was listening to KISS while 'blessing' crowds.

CD: Bride - Fist Full of Bees
From: Mike   (---.hfc.comcastbusiness.net) Date: May 20, 2009 at 12:05
This is one of those discs that you need to sit alone and really listen too. This CD is grossly under-rated and still impresses me every time i listen to it. This is a 'rare' piece of art that most artists wouldnt dare try, and Bride pulled it off. For those that didnt like it, i would be interested in learning how many times you listened to it. As a loyal long time Bride fan and understanding their music, sometimes it takes a few times on a disc to actually 'get' the groove, only then it sinks

CD: L.O.U.D. - II - It's True
From: Lee Bond   (---.cinci.res.rr.com) Date: April 11, 2009 at 23:46
I have spoken to people who used to hear LOUD perform The Last Supper at the U-Turn lounge that gave their hearts to Christ years later. It was a unique thing having a band that could cover so many other bands material so well and sound so much like them, then change gears, rock the house, and offer Jesus to an entire crowd. Not the normal kind of thing you would see in most clubs, but LOUD was not a normal kind of band... they were supernatural.
CD: L.O.U.D. - II - It's True
From: Lee Bond   (---.cinci.res.rr.com) Date: April 11, 2009 at 23:42
In spite of former drummer EJ Smith not performing on this release, LOUD once again found their groove with controversial subjects like No MTV, and powerful tracks like the title song, It's True! They even took the time to through in a little humor right at the end something Frankie and especially Pat Bratcher were prone to do. I only wish a decent lable would have signed these guys back when they were in their butt kicking, demon stomping prime. Good songs, great message, wear it out!
CD: L.O.U.D. - Stand On The Rock
From: Lee Bond II   (---.cinci.res.rr.com) Date: April 11, 2009 at 23:37
Leather pants, attitude, slinging guitars, stacks of speakers, flash pots and a first rate stage act. These are the things missing on this release. The content ministers and the in your face, not ashamed message makes this a truly collectable release. I only wish there was a LOUD DVD of their live performances.I used to see LOUD perform every chance I could. They were a great band, and did great things such as the formation of Rock Force for Christ. Good dudes, good message, good musicianship!

As fyi, the guitar player and drummer are brothers and are working together with the vocalist doing music today, but a chance of a reunion of the band is slim to none. The bass player torpedoed his relationship with each member of the band in ways that are difficult to overcome.

I don't know why album execs think they can remix an album and then sell more copies (although I did buy the crappy remix on CD - so I guess that's why they think they can do it). The original was fresh, bold, and kickin. The blue and white outfits make my ten year old daughter laugh, but in 1986 they were cool (at least they weren't wearing Motocross gear like early Gardian). Some will attack me for saying this - Ray Paris is not the most jaw dropping guitarist in the metal scene, but he laid d
CD: Holy Soldier - Holy Soldier
From: DJ   (---.) Date: March 12, 2009 at 14:48
This was one of my absolute favorite albums from the Christian Metal hair-band days- cheezy cover aside :-p Smokin' guitar, amazing drums, and good solid lyrics that dared to be a bit more real than alot of artists were willing to do. (They didn't just talk about avoiding temptation- 'Lies' and 'Love Me' weren't afraid to admit to BEING tempted and the pain and redemption after GIVING IN to it) Love every song on the album, but 'When the Reign Comes Down' is my fave.

Most of these guys had a band called Warrior in the mid 80s. They eventually morphed into Lex Rex (which was a little heavier than Warrior). I saw Warrior in concert several times and they always rocked the place. Also, Harv and Tom were DJ's on the local Christian Rock station (WPRQ, Powertrax) in Kingsport. Harv was called Harvey the disc minister, and Tom was Thomas the believer. Great times!

From: TruthSeeker   (---.dhcp.embarqhsd.net) Date: January 18, 2009 at 23:00
Stryper-fan, you're not the only one that feels this way about Bride. They are not a ministry band, for sure. I met Stephen Roland (first drummer) back in the 80's, and he didn't leave me with a positive impression. I have always wondered if Bride was a secular band finding a place to make records in a less competitive market. There's something that is just not right about them.

CD: Joshua - Surrender
From: Raymond   (---.proxy.aol.com) Date: December 31, 2008 at 5:18
Surrender was my baptism into hard rock. Joshua is the greatest of all Christian rock bands, in my opinion. Surrender has perfect songs that I can't get out of my head. Jeff Fenholt has the most powerful rock voice I have ever heard. The guitar is on fire with songs like 'Hold On', 'Rockin the World', 'Surrender Love', 'Back to the Rock', 'Your Love is Gone', 'Heart Full of Soul', and 'Loveshock'. Though I love all 5 of this bands albums, this one is special to me. A must buy if you love melody!
CD: Joshua - Intense Defense
From: Raymond   (---.proxy.aol.com) Date: December 31, 2008 at 4:58
This was my favorite album from the day I bought it. I listen to it at least 2-3 times a month, and never get tired of the songs. The band is red hot, and the songs are awesome but it is the guitar that gets me. The speed and taste makes every tune shine. I recommend getting it to anyone who has a heart! Albums like this are only compared to 'Dark Side of the Moon', 'Boston', 'Whitesnake', and 'Rainbow'. Perfect 10/10.
