Every one of Strypers albums kick butt, yet on this album they pushed it to the limit.

Glam isn't a type of music. Besides Glam was in the 70's. This is a Hair band. Hair isn't a music style either. This is a Metal Band! 80's Metal to be exact. This is their second album or first full. It's awesome & great cover too. No matter what this band did the christian's would down them. On this one I heard 'the weapons of our warfare...' Whatever! Great lyrics. A must for any Metal Christian. ROCK ON! http://stations.mp3s.com/stations/53/heavynly_metal.html St. Hood st_hood@hotmail.com

This album shreds! Definately a must have if you like melodic heavy metal. A masterpiece! http://www.metalforjesus.org

This is the Stryper classic many have never heard of! The CD contains edgy, hook- & riff-filled Heavy Metal songs that are genuinely satisfying; there's little fluff here. What fluff there is, like the ballads ('1st Love', '2gether as 1'), is bearable. The Battle Hymn of the Republic is forgettable, though. Stryper is more metal here & less glam than in later efforts. Sweet & Co. showed in SUC they had the makings of a great band. Too bad they only had one really good CD after this one ...

I agree with almost everything Cephas said. I like Battle Hymn though. This is probably my favorite Stryper record. The ballads are terrible, but the metal songs are some of the best. Songs like SUC, Makes Me Wanna Sing (my personal fave), The Rock That Makes Me Roll, Reach Out, and Surrender are just outstanding metal tunes that never sound as old as they now are (can you believe this record is now 17 years old!).

I have this album on vinyl! Talk about feeling OLD! I put it on my turntable (remember those?) not long ago and I had forgotten how good this record was. I agree, tho, the ballads are pretty awful. Other than that and the 'doo-wop' backing vocals in 'Makes Me Wanna Sing', this is a classic through and through.
From: Tom   (IP unknown) Date: April 30, 2002 at 15:25
Noooo! Don't mix up a great song like Makes Me Wanna Sing with Together Forever, a far inferior song!! The 'doo-wop' vocals are on Together Forever, which has got to be one of the worst songs ever by Stryper. Makes Me Wanna Sing is a total rocker and my personal favorite on this record.

Did I say 'Makes Me Wanna Sing'? My bad. I meant 'Together Forever.' Sorry. Getting old.
From: raistlin   (IP unknown) Date: May 12, 2002 at 1:17
a great album i like it a lot even the ballads (first love is a good song) but my personal favorites are waiting for a live thats real and soldiers under command. these guys should reunite and put out a new album. the best christian metal band ever

'Soldiers Under Command' was my first exposure to Stryper, and I would have to say it ranks as my favorite album. For blistering hard rock, it doesn't get much better than 'Makes Me Wanna Sing,' 'The Rock That Makes Me Roll,' 'Surrender,' and the title track! A very powerful album! 9/10
From: iaffprofireman   (IP unknown) Date: February 10, 2003 at 22:53
This is now a classic group! They raised the bar on Christian rock and set the standard! This is probably their best album. Great in both the Christian & secular music worlds both. Absolutely top notch!
